On-Line ADR
Resolution Forum, Inc. has developed the CAN-WINSM system which includes a conferencing system for conducting ADR over the Internet.
OVERVIEW
The CAN-WIN conferencing system is tailored for the Mediation/Arbitration process. It allows communication among parties located anywhere in the world using standard browser software (such as Netscape Communicator or Microsoft Internet Explorer). Currently the system is text-based, but we are in the process of implementing a video-conferencing system
CONFIDENTIALITY
Confidentiality is assured by password-protected access to the Conferencing System. When members request time on the Conferencing System, a Username/Password is given to the participating parties by the Resolution Forum Program Administrator. The Username/Password has a limited lifetime beyond which it will no longer allow access to the conferencing system.
PRIVATE MESSAGES
Participants on one side of a dispute who are in different locations may communicate privately within the conferencing system during an on-line session. This allows them to discuss responses before they are transmitted to all participants. This private messaging facility also allows participants to communicate with the mediator in a similar fashion.
BREAK-OUT ROOMS
There are two conference rooms available allowing the Mediator/Arbitrator to have break-out sessions. Parties in one conference room may not communicate with parties in the other, but the Mediator/Arbitrator may communicate with both rooms simultaneously.
TRANSCRIPT
The system saves a transcript of the session to a special file on the server. This transcript may be made available to the parties or destroyed as the parties desire.
